The Wayland Robotics team #6090 captured the state title in 2023 at Saginaw Valley State University, earning the right to compete in the worlds competition in Houston. The accomplishment finally is being acknowledged in signs that greet visitors to the community, joining similar bragging sites forthe WHS softball team and debate and forensics. Team members were Alex Cross, Isabel Cross, Zak Evans, Stephen Harnish, Alexandra Killips, Jack Lyons, Nathan Trumbull and Corin VanDenBrink. Mentors for the group were Kathy Cross, Terry Cross, Joe Harnish, Rod Killips, Mark Lyons, David Merice, Landon Kohtz, Keith Kohtz, Tammy Kohtz and Teresa MaKenzie Brown.
