Michigan State Police from the Wayland post and deputies from the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department arrested three persons after being summoned Thursday to a home in Hopkins Township.

The three were arrested after a report of a robbery at a house near 135th Avenue and 14th Street. Authorities blocked off  traffic on 135th Avenue west of Wayland en route to the house and a standoff ensued.

Allegan County Sheriff’s authorities said the incident began Thursday morning when three people, two men and a woman, said two men were sitting in a parked vehicle at a vacant lot in Hopkins Township about 5 a.m. Thursday when they were robbed at gunpoint.

The suspects later were identified and arrested at two different residences, one on 135th Avenue and the other in the Village of Hopkins.

Additional details about the robbery were not immediately available.

Police said there was no threat to the general public.

Ambulance personnel from Wayland Area Emergency Services also responded to the incident.
