Arlene Wykstra died Monday, Aug. 1, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was 68.
She was born Feb. 28, 1954, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Earl and Pearl (Tammeling) Koning. Arlene worked at Parker Hannifin for 20 years until her retirement in 2010. She was also a consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics for many years.
Arlene loved shopping, couponing, going to garage sales, growing flowers at her home, reading and spending time with her friends. Arlene was happiest when she was surrounded by her grandchildren.
On May 9, 1978, she married Anthony “Andy” Wykstra, who survives.
Also surviving are her children, Lindsey (Boone) Cook and Luke Wykstra; grandchildren, Dylan and Miriam Cook, Andy Wykstra and Kiera Wood; brother, Tom (Connie) Koning and sister, Dixie Tracy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Aaron, siblings, Mark Koning, Dan Schuring, Wilson Sincler and Charlotte Sincler, along with many other extended family members.
According to her wishes cremation has taken place.
