Army Bob: Media covered up Joe Biden’s aging illness

by Robert M. Traxler

The question of whether the White House covered up former President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline is a subject of ongoing debate. What is not in question is the American media’s covering for him.

The White House concealing and lying about a physical or mentally challenged President is expected and indeed historically the norm. Let’s look at former commanders in chief whom the White House covered for: — Presidents Abraham Lincon, Chester Allen Arthur, Grover Cleveland, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy and now Biden. It is the job of the White House staff to “spin” or lie to paint the current president in the best light possible; it is the job of the media to report the truth, not the politically correct propaganda.

The media is shocked that the White House staff lied to them; the smartest and sharpest people in the world apparently did not read history? It is one more shovel of dirt in the legacy media digging its own grave. What did they expect?

As a former columnist in this on-line newspaper, Ranger Rick asked, “How do you know politicians are lying to you? Their mouths are moving.”

Whom did we believe, the White House and the legacy media, or our lying eyes? The Biden Administration chose well in appointing Karine Jean-Pierre as the spokesperson. As she is a triple or quadruple minority, the media was hard pressed to challenge her and defy the tenets of diversity, equity and inclusion. Who she was drowned out what she said.

The strange thing is that the mainstream media is now outraged that the spin doctors in the administration, the folks who are paid to lie to them did lie to them, and that tell-all books are coming out at light speed, written by the media who are outraged that they were lied to. It is the very definition of fake outrage, it is a (cover your ass) CYA operation, a way to pardon themselves for their complete failure to accept and report the facts truth and evidence displayed countless times in front of them for four years.

“A significant portion of the American public perceives that President Biden’s mental decline was underreported,” (well no kidding). A Rasmussen Reports survey from early 2024 indicated that 59% of likely voters believed Biden was becoming less mentally sharp over time, with 61% of respondents feeling that the media were either “very” or “somewhat” likely to cover up this decline,” (Breitbart). In early 2024, not later that year; it is an example of the media shaping news, not covering it. In late 2024 that percentage was significantly higher.

The release of the book Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson has intensified allegations of a media coverup. The authors claim that Biden’s cognitive decline was deliberately concealed by his administration and that some media outlets failed to adequately report on it. The book’s publication led to public apologies from figures like CNN’s Jake Tapper, who acknowledged previously dismissing concerns about Biden’s mental acuity. Four years of lies are dismissed by a five second apology; thousands of lies are cancelled with one mea culpa.

However, some journalists have defended their coverage. For instance, New York Times correspondent Peter Baker suggested that the media might need to engage in “soul-searching” regarding their coverage of Biden’s age, acknowledging that the issue was significant, but also challenging to report on due to limited access and political sensitivities.

Limited access sure, but enough for any reasonable and prudent person to clearly see he was a shell of his former self, and a man with dementia who had his finger on a button launching 5,044 nuclear weapons with some 850 million tons of destructive power.

Debate Intensifies over media coverage of Biden’s cognitive health, now that it does not matter. Our media is blaming the White House staff, bringing up the old saying, “Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me,” or in this case, fool me eight times (eight presidents who were physically or cognitively challenged).

“Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it” — George Santayana. My opinion.

You forgot that Reagan showed signs of Alzheimer’s. Joyce Weinbrecht, director of Thornapple Manor, swore up and down he was ill before he left office. And do you believe Donald Trump is of sound mind and body? Many pyschiatrists think he’s not.

I had the honor of caring for my father when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. All I can say about the matter is that, with a wife like Jill Biden, Joe Biden didn’t need any enemies!
