Around the Globe Artist Market ‘soft’ opening is Saturday

The Around the Globe Artist Market will have a “soft grand opening” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in conjunction with the Wayland Community Expo further east on Superior Street. The market, owned by Ron Carlson and Nila Aamoth, is being located inside what is known as the Helmey Building at 133 E. Superior St. Sue Skiba (pictured) will be the manager. Irvin P. and Helen Jane Helmey operated the Wayland Globe at that site until 1986 when they retired, and Carlson and Aamoth succeeded them. The building for some time was a per store, but was vacant, until Saturday.
