Beam topping ceremony held for new health center

Pictured above are staff at the UM Health-West Wayland Health Center, Wayland city leaders and representatives from Kasco Construction Services during the beam ceremony Tuesday.

The new building on West Superior Street between United Bank and Burger King contains 17,300 square feet. The current building on East Superior across the street from the high school contains 9,821 usable square feet; so the new structure is 75% larger.

The new building has future expansion capabilities of 5,230 square feet and will contain 38 exam/procedure rooms. The current building contains 18 exam/procedure rooms.

The new building will have 115 parking spaces, while the current building has 73 parking spaces.

The new building is the second to be designed and constructed in UMH-West’s new image, closely following the Allendale Health Center that opened in spring of 2022.

UMH-West has had a health center in Wayland since 2001.
