A 5-year-old boy was killed Friday evening when the bicycle he was riding was struck by a Jimmy Johns delivery driver.

Wayland Police Department officers said the child, identified as Blake Huffman, rode outside his family’s driveway at the Windsor Woods manufactured home village on West Superior Street at about 7:30 p.m. when the vehicle struck his bike.

Authorities reported the female 33-year-old delivery driver was not injured in the accident. She was not arrested.

Wayland Area Emergency Medical Services personnel were summoned, but the boy died at the scene.

Friends and family have set up a GoFundMe account and are asking the community for help with expenses for the funeral Wednesday.
