Burial service for Dale Peters will be at Camp Jijak

Dale William Peters, 63, of Allegan, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, at his home.

Born Jan.2, 1955, in Plainwell, he was the son of the late Elmer Peters, Sr. and Grace (Mark) Peters and was the husband of Carmen “Angie” (Pauline) Peters.

Dale was a veteran of the United States Army and the National Guard in which he served for more than 30 years prior to retirement. He had also been a talented furniture maker. Dale was a proud member of the Grand Traverse Bay Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians. He enjoyed Powwow dancing, beading and crafting.

Besides his wife, Dale is survived by his sisters, Erma Jean Peters and Marian Peters Jarman and husband Tom; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and numerous friends, especially the Shawa family who were like an extension of his own family.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Jijack Camp Recreation Hall, Hopkins Township, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. during which time a Pipe Ceremony also will take place. Burial services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at the Jijak Camp Recreation Hall. Burial will follow in the Bradley Indian Mission Cemetery.
