An open house for the new carpenters and millwrights training center on Reno Drive in Wayland will be held Monday, April 29. Councilman Abe Garcia told colleagues at the Wayland City Council meeting Monday evening that he recently was treated to a tour of the facility, which includes a huge meeting room. It has high visibility because it can be seen easily from the U.S.-131 expressway just south of the Wayland exit, No. 64. City officials said efforts are being made to have Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer attend the ceremony. the Wayland Carpenters and Millwrights Training Center will also have a career fair from 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, at its 500 Reno Drive facility.
