Celebration of life delayed for Beverly Pike, 86

Beverly Claire Pike, age 86, died Dec. 31, 2025, at Cortland Riverside Gardens in Grand Rapids.

Born on Aug. 21, 1939, in Chicago, Beverly was the youngest child of Arthur and Ethel (Olson) Bergman. She grew up alongside her two siblings, Ron and Barbara. In 1949, the family relocated to Monterey Center, where Arthur operated the local general store. Beverly graduated from Allegan High School in 1957.

Beverly married Kermit Pike in 1971 and they made their home in Martin, where Kermit owned the local grain elevator and was co-owner of Wolverine Feeds. Through their marriage, Beverly became a stepmother to Robert (Debra) Pike, Susan (Steve) Markward, and Elizabeth (Dan) Tant.

Beverly had many interests, including gardening, cooking, golfing, and traveling, but her passion was decorating. She had a great talent for it and her home and garden were a showcase, especially in the summer when the flowers were in bloom.

Beverly also worked outside her home at Roger’s Department Store in Grand Rapids, where she formed long lasting friendships.

Beverly was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brother, Ron Bergman; her sister, Barbara Balgoyen; and a niece. She is survived by her stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
