Dennis Dame, 56 of Wayland, died March 18.

Dennis was successful in the trucking industry, where he was highly respected. He was an intelligent man of quick wit and generous spirit. He had a huge heart and would help anyone in need.

He loved to share a funny story with a twinkle in his eyes and a big smile. He cherished all the hours watching his sons on the basketball court, enjoying his daughter and granddaughter showing horses, his son Brett’s love of all things music, and sharing time with his brothers.

Teasing his sisters was a hobby. He always smiled brightest for his granddaughter Aleigha; they had a special bond which included dressing up every Halloween together.

Dennis loved to challenge himself with many interests and could conquer whatever he put his mind to. He loved learning how to fly, parachuting, demolition derby, cool cars and riding horses. He loved to cook and perfected his mom’s chili sauce. He loved his new boat and hanging out at Dumont Lake.

Important to Dennis was the time he spent at church on Sunday with his brothers.

Dennis leaves behind his daughter, Stephanie Snyder; sons Daniel and Ryan; granddaughter, Aleigha. Besides his children, he is survived by his siblings Dave Dame Sr., (Deb), Nora Johnson (Dave), Colleen Marihugh (Dennis), Mary Lutke (Bill), Nelson Dame Jr., (Sonya), Daniel Dame, Edward Dame (Sue); many nieces and nephews; and loving, supportive friend Reynell Sweetman DeLange.

The son of the late Nelson Joseph Dame, Sr. and Marilyn Joyce (McBrien) Dame, he was preceded in death by his sons, Evan and Brett, and his brother, Richard.

A celebration of Dennis’s life will be planned at a future date.
