Celebration of life for Don Hunter will be held Sunday

Donald H. Hunter, age 93 and a half, of Byron Center, died Tuesday, Feb.17, after a short illness.

Don was the youngest of six children born to Clyde and Fanny Hunter.

Don andand his wife June shared a love of travel and explored many foreign countries together, creating a lifetime of treasured memories. He worked at Kelvinator for more than 35 years and was a dedicated farmer, embodying a strong work ethic and deep respect for the land. He took great pride in his home and was known for keeping an immaculate lawn that reflected his care, discipline, and attention to detail.

Don and June were blessed with 69 years of marriage, a testament to their devotion, faith, and enduring love.

Nothing was more important to Don than his children and grandchildren. He never missed a sporting event and was a constant presence in their lives, offering encouragement, wisdom, and unconditional love. He was a wonderful role model with quiet strength, integrity and devotion.

He is survived by his wife, June; children Jeffery, Michael, Kimberly, and Cornetta; and the memory of his son, Donnie, who preceded him in death.

Don is also survived by his grandchildren Joe, Jamie, Sara, Donnie, Jessica, Robby, Shelly, A.J., and Jack; and by his 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his siblings Theresa, Clyde, Thelma, Esther, and Elmer.

A celebration of Don’s life will commence at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, with visitation one hour prior, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 4330 18th St., Dorr. Pastor Bud Pratt will be officiating.
In his honor, contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
