Celebration of life for LJ Long, 59, will be Thursday evening

“John “LJ” Long, 59, died Tuesday, Aug 6.
LJ, son of the late Gilman and Harriet Long, was born on Dec. 16, 1959, in Danville, Vermont. He later served in the Navy as an electrician’s mate aboard the Destroyer U.S.S. Dyess. Most recently, he worked for Schneider Electric for 12 years.
He is survived by his son Patrick Long (Dena), Grandson Parker Long, daughters Amanda and Brittany Long, and siblings Kim White and Jason Long.
He also leaves behind “The Love of His Life,” Melissa Miller, who shared in the happiness of everyday’s new beginnings, and the joy of time spent with her and family. LJ was a great father figure to Kenneth (Hannah), Jillian, Jennah, and Kyle Miller. He also played an active role in the lives of Melissa’s grandchildren Isabella and Kenneth Miller, and Lyliah and Liam Palomo.
LJ’s favorite past times were going to Mike Massé concerts, Kyle’s football games, and Jennah’s volleyball games. He also took pride in renovating his Rec Room. His greatest joy was riding his bike, “Black Beauty,” in charity runs with Melissa.
Visitation with family and friends will be from 4 to 8 pm. Wednesday, Aug. 14, and 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019. Family and friends are invited to share memories at 7 p.m. Thursday. Services will be held at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 4330 18th St., Dorr, Michigan 49323.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the family may be made for funeral expenses.
