Ryan Sprague, age 51,died while surrounded by his family Saturday, July 8.

Ryan enjoyed fishing, hunting, shopping, and especially golfing and loved spending time with his family. Ryan accepted people for who they were and was often known as the “funcle” or “Uncle Birdie.” He was given many nicknames over the years; he was also known as “flea” or “lips.”

Ryan is survived by his son, Mason Cash Sprague; father, DK Sprague; siblings Frank Sprague (Tammy Wemigwans), Virginia (David) Vanderband; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Ryan was preceded in death by his mother, Evi Sprague; and sister, Leah Sprague-Fodor.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services, Dorr Chapel, 4330 18th St. A celebration of Ryan’s life will be held at noon Thursday, July 13, at Luella Collins Community Center, 419 126th Ave., Shelbyville, with visitation from 11 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service.
