Eric Vales, age 43, of Dorr, died unexpectedly Friday, July 26.

Eric was a husband, father, son, and brother who taught students the love of art at Kentwood Public Schools for 18 years.

He is survived by Renee, his wife of 20 years; sons Ethan, Logan and Grady Vales; mother Mala Vales; sister Carey (Chris) Soda; step-mother Joann Vales, and many nieces, nephews, step-siblings and friends.

Eric was preceded in death by his father Richard Vales.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Kentwood Public Schools Administration Building – Collaboration Center, 5820 Eastern Ave. SE, Kentwood, from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Eric to assist the family with a college fund. Contributions accepted at any Lake Michigan Credit Union in the names of Ethan, Logan and Grady Vales.
