Wayne R. Dial, age 84, died Monday, Sept. 11.

At a young age, Wayne began his love of HAM radio; he will always be remembered by his call sign, W8AJU. This passion steered him into his career working for MICHCON/DTE as a communications engineer.

Wayne also served his country in the United States Army Reserves. where he achieved the rank and title of Communications Staff Sgt. E6.

He cherished his faith and he enjoyed engaging in theological and spiritual discussion with those he met and especially around the dinner table, much to the dismay and “eye-rolls” of his kids.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Beth Dial; children Renee (Tony) Yasick, Rob (Shawn) Dial, Dan (Amy) Dial, Lee Dial; grandchildren Megan (Chris), Erin, Evan, Isabelle (Hendrick), Aiden, Eyan, Kaelum, Morgan (Teagan), Samy, Dominik; great-granddaughter, Leighton; siblings Judi Ordish, Rick (Sandy) Dial; and many extended relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Minnie Dial.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home (Dorr Chapel), 4330 18th St. A private family service will be held Monday, Sept. 18. A celebration of life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 1, at South Kent Sportsmen’s Club, 2536 140th Ave., Dorr.
