One of the fam’s favorite bars with a little added touch for Valentine’s Day.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Ingredients:
1 cup just melted salted butter
2 cups light brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 cups flour
Like the measuring spoon says – a tad of salt – depending on if you use salted or unsalted butter. I used salted butter so added a tad more. Otherwise use a 1/2 a teaspoon.
2 cups coconut – plus 1 cup for topping
2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
Sprinkle mix for topping – if needed

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl blend together the melted butter and brown sugar until well combined. Add the eggs and vanilla again, stirring well.
Slowly stir in the flour with a “tad” of salt depending on if you use salted or unsalted butter. Now to finish up stir in the coconut and chocolate. Spread evenly into a well greased 9×13 baking dish.
Bake in a preheated oven for 28 to 30 minutes total, taking out of the oven 5 minutes early, sprinkling evenly with the 1 cup of the reserved coconut on the top, carefully patting it lightly into the top. Return to oven to finish up.
For Valentine’s Day I added the sprinkle mix after it was taken out of the oven and cooled off for a couple of minutes. It works well to cut into bars while it’s still warm. Enjoy!
