The second annual “Light It Up” run in Wayland is scheduled for Friday, July 17, to kick off the annual Main Street celebration weekend.
The Wayland City Council Monday night approved street closures to accommodate the downtown “Glow in the Dark” fun run, sponsored by the New Life Community Church and the Gun Lake Tribe.
Mike Hewitt, pastor of the New Life Church, is asking city public safety personnel to begin closing the appropriate streets in the downtown area, starting at 2:30 p.m. that Friday.
“Chief (Steve) Harper has been working with the organizers so we can avoid any traffic congestion problems,” said City Manager Mike Selden.
