The Wayland City Council last Monday evening reviewed bids for cold milling and paving projects on several well-traveled roads within the city. A-1 Asphalt and Black Gold Transport both submitted bids for the work.

The Main Street project involves milling and paving from south of Superior Street to Sycamore Street. Work on Superior Street will take place east of Main Street to Forrest Street. Additionally, Reno Drive will be patched from south of Superior to 133rd Avenue.

The decision to patch Reno Drive, rather than fully pave it, was made because of extensive road work already planned for the intersection of Reno and Superior next year. Patchwork will also be performed at the intersection of Main and Maple Streets.

The City Council approved A-1 Asphalt’s bid of $268,000. While there is no official start date yet, the council was informed that A-1 expects to complete the entire project within one week.
