The Wayland City Clerk’s offvote-electionice will be open Sunday, Oct. 30, Tuesday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 5, for the sole purpose to accommodate absentee ballot requests for the Nov. 8 general election.

City Clerk Michelle Herman said the deadline to turn in absentee ballots by mail will be Saturday, Nov. 5. Ballots may be requested in writing up until 2 p.m. that day, but Herman cautioned, “Please note that is rarely enough time to complete the process. Request your ballot as soon as possible.”

Voters will be able to complete their absentee ballots at City Hall, if desired. Monday, Nov. 7, is the absentee in person deadline. Ballots may be requested up until 4 p.m. Please bring photo ID.

Election Day will held from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, at the Wayland Public Safety Complex 160 W. Superior Street

“Don’t forget to bring your photo ID to help ensure accuracy and expediency at your precinct,” Herman advised. “To avoid waiting in a long line, plan your trip to the polling location between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.”

  1. Those who are eligible to vote by absentee ballot are: Voters who are 60 years of age or older.
  2. Voters who expect to be absent from the community in which he/she is registered for the entire time the polls are open on Election Day.
  3. Those physically unable to attend the polls without the assistance of another person.
  4. Those who cannot attend the polls because of the tenets of his/her religion.
  5. Those who have been appointed an election precinct inspector in a precinct other

    than the precinct where he/she resides.

  6. Those who cannot attend the polls because he/she is confined to jail awaiting

    arraignment or trial.

 

By Mail: contact the Clerk’s Office at 269-792-2265 to request an Absent Voter Ballot Application.

The application will be mailed to you within one business day.

In Person: you can bring your photo ID to City Hall to complete the Absent Voter Application and be issued a ballot.
