The Wayland City Council Monday night fielded a complaint about motorcycles prowling the Interurban and city streets, which is against local rules.
Citizen James Longstreet, who lives in Leighton Township just two blocks outside the city limits, said he’s concerned about motorcycles because he has two grandchildren who play near the areas they use, even though signs clearly forbid all motorized vehicles on the Interurban.
Mayor Jennifer Antel told Longstreet that the Interurban is owned by Consumers Energy, but she agreed to alert the company to the problems.
Longstreet, however, said, “They are on your (city) property because they also use city streets.”
Proper authorities will be notified, the mayor said.
