Park Street just south of Dahlia is being recommended for a facelift next year to fix the damn pot holes.

The Wayland City Planning Commission Tuesday evening recommended approval for a special use permit for construction of a garage on West Sycamore Street and approval for zoning ordinance amendments to ease restrictions on accessory structures.

The latter move came after the Zoning Board of Appeals made a similar move last month for another residence. Thus, an amended zoning ordinance is being sent to the City Council as well for final determination.

“It’s the exact same process if the new ordinance is passed,” explained Zoning Administrator Lori Castello of Professional Code Inspections.

The special use permit for 429 West Sycamore went though a rigorous “checklist” process before being recommended.

In a related matter, City Manager Josh Eggleston told members that Ryan Martin, who has served on the commission for nine years, has declined his reappointment. Mayor Tim Bala and the City Council are tasked with finding his successor as soon as possible.

Eggleston also reported that street work at Marlo Lane has begun and no projects are planned until next year, when Park Street, plagued by a number of pot holes, will get a renovation.
