Clipper girls 3rd in Parchment C-C Classic

Though junior ace harrier Veyda Conley of Martin did not break the 20-minute barrier for the second straight meet, the Lady Clippers checked in a more than respectable third place Wednesday at the Parchment Classic cross-country meet.

Conley finished the 5K race with a time just over 20:14, second to individual medalist Ashlynn Harris of Bronson by about three and a half seconds.

Marshall won the meet with 45 points, Bronson was runner-up with 49 and Martin had 64. Nine teams competed.

Junior Sara Schipper took eighth place, sophomore Allison Rodgers was 12th, freshman Riley Bender 23rd and sophomore DuRae Sage 25th.

The Clipper guys finished seventh among the dozen teams competing, collecting 169 points.

Junior Jadon Dettmann led Martin by taking 16th place in 19:15. Gari Salvador-Garcia was 28th in 19:56, Hunter Hayes 30th, Jeremiah VanHouten 34th and Xander Ruiter 76th.
