Estimates have four to five inches of snow in this area Friday, another five inches from Friday night to Saturday morning and about six to eight more Saturday night into Sunday.
The weekend was spent by many just hunkering down, using the snow thrower or shovels, watching televised sporting events and otherwise not getting around much. The three days of storms canceled many school- and church-related activities, and some local local businesses, even banks, shut down Saturday.
Though more than a few local citizens on Facebook insisted this was overhyped weather warnings that didn’t match up to the Blizzard of 1978 or even the storm of 2011, the weather dominated West Michigan and reportedly the entire nation between Jan. 12 and Jan. 14.
The big question now is whether school activities, particularly sports, will be called off Monday and whether the temperatures will plunge to the point just about nobody will even want to chance going outside.
