Construction will affect traffic in Hopkins Village

Construction of the new Township Hall connection with the Hopkins District Library will begin Monday.

The Township Hall is being constructed between the library and the Village Hall. New barriers will be put in place and driving will be restricted on Franklin Street by the Village Hall and the Hopkins Firebarn.

As indicated by the accompanying map, residents will still have access to the library from Main Street (128th Avenue) and will be able to return to Main Street there as well. However, traffic will ONLY be able to head south once past the library.

From the south end of the library building to Wise Street, it will be one way — south. This is to accommodate the Hopkins Fire Department for any emergency response.

This project will continue through the summer and into the fall. The greatest impact will be on drivers leaving the schools and heading back to Main Street, who unfortunately likely will encounter some more backups. So extra patience will be necessary for the foreseeable future, especially between 2:30 and 3:15 p.m. weekdays.
