Consumers Energy isskate park installing a temporary facility at its site on Sycamore Street that may cause  delay in opening the Wayland Skate Park this year.

Consumers Energy Monday night asked for and received a temporary easement from the City Council. The temporary facility will provide power while the main one is being repaired.

“They’ve got repairs they’ve got to do to their main station,” said City Manager Mike Selden, who added that the work should be completed in April or May, so it may not affect use of the skate park after all.

Selden said he has been assured that the repair work and temporary facility does not interfere with Pine Street Elementary activities, such as the students’ distance run in the first week of May.
