Corey Cooke, only 33, loses battle with brain cancer

Corey Cooke, age 33, died Friday, March 17, after a battle with brain cancer.

Corey enjoyed all things outdoors, especially camping trips with friends and family, fishing, and kayaking. He enjoyed working on all types of engines, restoring and “flipping” cars and tinkering in the shop. He also loved spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his mother, Tami (Timothy) Brander; father, Scott (Kelli) Cooke; grandparents Amy Cooke, Lenore Dykstra, Cynthia McGarry; brothers David (Micquaya) Block, Samuel Cooke, Allen Brander; sister, Jay-Jay Brander; nieces and nephews Midge, David, Atticus, Mortdecai, Preacher, Cotton; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Richard Cooke, Kim Hayes; great-aunt, Kathy “Auntie” Voshel; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating Corey’s life will be held 12 at noon Wednesday, March 29, at Heritage Baptist Church, 1570 60th St. SE, Kentwood with visitation from 11 to 11:45 a.m., prior to the service.
