Asphalt crack sealing work was scheduled to begin Monday evening by the Michigan Department of Transportation between 110th and 120th avenues along U.S.-131 just north of Martin.

An MDOT spokesperson said there will be nightly lane closures on both northbound portions of the expressway. They will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. every day. At least one lane in both directions will remain open.

The northbound on and off ramps at two exits are expected to be closed Tuesday night and southbound ramps will be closed Thursday.

If the weather cooperates, the MDOT plans to have the project completed by Saturday morning, Aug. 8, he said.

If the project still needs more work the crack sealing will be resumed the next week. Crews are not expected to work over the Aug. 8-9 weekend.
