‘Culture Club’ helps WHS students learn about exchange visitors

A new “Culture Club” at Wayland High School has been launched to enable Wayland students to hang out with foreign exchange students and learn about their countries and culture. They meet once a month during Pride Time. The club hosted a “Culture Shock” Q&A earlier this month with the foreign exchange students and WUHS students. The high school has 20 foreign exchange students from Germany, France, New Zealand, Sweden, The Republic of Georgia, Italy, Ecuador, Spain, Morocco, Russia, Netherlands and Chile. Coordinators are sign language teacher Sarah Rollandini and Spanish teacher Rochelle Diaz.

This sounds like a great program. I wish we’d had it during my time in high school. I like to travel, and find exploring different cultures fascinating and valuable. Culture Club accomplishes some of this, and I applaud Wayland Schools for doing this.
