Dan Beute was re-elected chairman of the Dorr Township Planning Commission Tuesday evening and the newest commissioner, Rebecca Snider, was welcomed for her first meeting.
Beute, who holds the distinction of being the commission’s only chairman besides Bob Wagner since 1975, ironically was nominated by Wagner to serve another term. Wagner then was unanimously chosen vice chair.
Beute, first chosen to be a planning commissioner in 2015, took over as chair a little more than a year ago when Wagner was absent with health issues. Wagner insisted he stay on when he returned.
Rich Osborn was selected to continue as recording secretary after earning plenty of praise for his work.
Snider succeeds Brian Boot, who asked to step down from his seat last month. She is the first woman to serve since Melissa Harding resigned at the end of 2014.

In the only business the Planning Commission conducted, a discussion was held about perhaps having Professional Code Inspections craft an ordinance amendment insisting all new developments include curb and gutter in their projects.
Commissioner Larry Dolegowski said, “With curb and gutter, you can direct the water.”
Commissioner Jody Schaendorf concurred, saying, “It (the project) looks better when the water moves.”
Beute said, “There is nothing in the current ordinance that requires curb and gutter in new development.”
