The Allegan County Sheiff’s Department is reporting this week that deputies have been busy with car vs. deer accidents. A spokesman said, “So far this month, we’ve taken 89 car vs. deer accidents (as of Nov. 15). In October, we took 92; and in November of 2017, we took a total of 171.

If you happen to hit a deer or a deer hits you, please make sure that you do the following:
*Safely pull off to the side of the road.
*Turn your hazards on.
*Call 911 to report that you hit a deer.
*Let Dispatch know if the deer is out of the roadway, or a road hazard, or alive and may need to be be put down.
*If the deer is alive, the officer will take care of it.

For road kill permits, again, if the deer is alive, the officer will take care of it and issue a road kill permit. Do not take the deer home unless instructed to do so.

Do not swerve to miss them that is how people hit trees or other cars. Take the little crunch.
