Dorothy J. Miller of Hopkins, died Monday, April 20, at the Wings Home in Allegan. She was 88.
Dorothy was born Aug. 11, 1926, in Fulton, the daughter of Troy and Mary (Matteson) Clawson. She graduated from Allegan High School, Class of 1944, she attended County Normal, graduated from Western Michigan University with her bachelor’s degree and then went back and received her master’s in special education. She taught for more than 10 years at many country schools, taught for over 12 years at Hamilton Public School, and 15 years in Holland Public School, special education.
She was a member most of her life at the United Methodist Church of Monterey Center, where she played the piano for many years.
Surviving are her son, Tom; her foster son, Joe and Esther Jaime; her granddaughter, Cecilia; her sister, Lois Hays; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her brother, Lloyd and her sister, Betty.
Friends may meet with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday . Interment in Poplar Hill Cemetery, Monterey Township.
