Dorr and Hopkins Library Director takes Coopersville post

Elyshia Hoekstra

Elyshia Schafer Hoekstra has left her twin positions as director of the Dorr Township and Hopkins libraries.

Hoekstra, who took the Dorr and Hopkins jobs nearly four years ago, has taken over as director at Coopersville Public Library. She won the two posts, succeeding Natalie Bazan, who moved out of state and got married.

Hoekstra, who also recently married, earned her master’s degree in library and information science from Wayne State University and received her liberal arts degree at Michigan Technological University in 2010, with a concentration in English

Hoekstra grew up in the Hopkins area. She was a volunteer at Dorr Township Library over three years and served as a program consultant, cataloger, assistant and e-reader expert. She had been teen librarian at both Dorr Township and Hopkins District libraries for two months before being named director.
