Despite the treacherous icy road conditions Monday night, all seven members of the Dorr Township Board held their regular monthly meeting.

The board agreed to pay half of the $38,319 purchase price of a 2016 Ford Explorer for the two sheriff’s deputies, Ryan Rewa and Chad Sikkema, who cover Dorr and Leighton townships.

The Leighton Township Board earlier this month agreed to pay its half.

The 2007 Chevy Tahoe it will replace will be sold.

The Dorr Township Board also agreed with Chief Gary Fordham’s recommendation to hire new firefighter Jason Helms, who has moved from Hopkins Township and has six years of experience. He also has medical first responder certification.

The board also decided to hire Cliff Bloom of Bloom, Sluggett, Morgan in Grand Rapids as its legal representation.
