Dorr Library to have Mini Comic Con Aug. 9

From Comic Book Magnets to a Jurassic Park Dinosaur Hunt, from Shrinky Dinks to Elsa’s Snowball Toss, Dorr Township Library will offer activities for all ages and interests at the Summer Reading Mini Comic Con from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9.

This event is also patrons’ last chance to become a Summer Reading finisher by handing in their completed reading log and winning a packet of prizes: a pair of Dorr Township Library sunglasses; tickets to see the Whitecaps, the Rise, and the Griffins; gifts from Maranda’s Book Club, Celebration Cinema, Pizza Hut, and two raffle entries for larger prizes such as gift cards, stuffed animals, and Sky Zone passes.

As of July 30, Dorr Library has had a record-breaking 51% increase in Summer Reading registrations from last year, and a 14.2% increase in finishers, with a total of 384 people participating. Join in the Summer Reading fun for your first (or fifteenth, or fiftieth) time at the library’s Mini Comic Con finale, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., August 9.

Dorr Township Library is the taxpayer-supported free public library operating since 1940. It currently offers 29,000 books, 40 magazines, 2,800 DVDs, 750 audiobooks, more than 200 programs annually, and more.

“For Dorr Township residents, we also provide access to online databases and hotspots for home and mobile internet connection,” said Director Jeffrey Babbitt.
