Dorr Plan Commission OKs private road in Commerce

The Dorr Township Planning Commission Tuesday evening approved a special use amendment for a private road extension inside the Dorr Commerce industrial park.

The request was made by Jody Schaendorf, who happens to also be a member of the commission, so he sat in the audience and wasn’t allowed to vote. He was represented by Byron Center Realtor Brian Silvernail.

The project intends to create Marco Court inside the park and open up spaces for a few more buildings. Sewer and water are included in the plans.

The vote was 5-0 with Schaendorf abstaining and Brian Boot absent.

In another matter, the commission tabled a request for site plan review from Angie Leslie of Curious Minds Busy Bags, for warehouse and parking facility expansion. It was tabled because no one representing the applicant showed up for the meeting.

Commission Chairman Dan Beute said, “I’d like to be able to have them move this along, but we need some answers to questions.”

The delay will be until the next Planning Commission meeting in May.
