Dorothy Groters, age 85, of Dorr, died Sunday, June 21.

Dorothy served 23 years in the Wayland Union School district and was affectionately known as the Dorr Elementary School playground lady.

She is survived by her children, Donald (Sarah) Groters, Thomas (Marie) Groters, Maryann (Paul) Hamilton, Dorothy (David) Zandstra, Gerald Groters, Christine Groters (Albert Illingworth); 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings Thomas (Sherry) Wagner and Darla (Bob) Wagner; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Gerald.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday June 25, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral home 4330 18th Street, Dorr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, at St. Therese Catholic Parish, 128 Cedar St., Wayland.

In lieu of flowers and in memory of Dorothy, contributions may be made to Faith Hospice.
