The Dorr Township Board Thursday night adopted a fiscal year 2026-27 budget that features nearly $2 million in expenditures.
The township expects to take in $1,774,700 in revenue, anticipates $2,054,909 in expenditures and will use $280,209 from the fund balance to make up for the shortfall. That leaves $1,363,116 in the fund balance to start the next fiscal year.
Supervisor Jeff Miling said the township expects to get less money this year from state aid, which is the largest source of revenue. Dorr received $403,000 in local tax revenue.
The budget’s earmarked funds include expenses such as $1.73 million for roads, $180,00 for Professional Code Inspections, $293,190 inn building and maintenance, $74,820 for parks, 322,400 for the fire department, $324,308 for drains and $77,200 for the Dorr Township Library.
The board, operating without Trustee Dan Weber, who is undergoing surgery and Trustee Chandler Stanton, who resigned abruptly last month, adopted the budget on a 3-2 vote. New Treasurer Sheila Reitz and Clerk Debbie Sewers dissented.
Reitz said she felt it was better to table the proposed budget instead.
