Heather Hill, 23, or Dorr, sustained non-life threatening injuries in a fatal traffic accident in the Kalamazoo area Thursday.

Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s deputies said John Porn, 18, of Mattawan, was driving west on KL Avenue when ran a stop sign and into the path of a northbound SUV driven by Hill. The impact caused his vehicle to overturn, trapping the occupants inside. Porn perished as a result of the crash.

Occupants Nichole Tully and Mia Holmgren, both 16, from Mattawan, were extricated from the vehicle and transported to Bronson Methodist Hospital and were reported to be in critical condition.

Hill, a graduate of Wayland High School, was taken to Borgess Medical Center.

Authorities said they didn’t know what may have caused the driver to run the stop sign.
