Dorr’s maintenance guy has lawn side business

Dorr Township maintenance supervisor Jarrod Simon has launched a side business, doing what he does best. And he proudly touts it as owned and operated by a military veteran.

Simon, who has been a Dorr Township employee for five years, not long ago launched Veterans Pride Lawn Care, specializing in mowing and landscaping. He said he can work with residents on trees, bushes, retaining walls, water fountains and just about any outdoor amenities around the house. During the winter, he also provides snow plowing services.

A native of Tennessee, he came to Dorr in 2004 after serving in both the Gulf War and the War in Iraq. He had served since 1991 and received a Purple Heart.

He chose to come to Dorr because his mother, Clare Simon, has lived here for more than 20 years.

Simon’s daughter, Elisa, 24, is a graduate of Wayland High School. He and his wife, Rochelle, live in Dorr, and he has three stepchildren.

Jarrod does great work for us at all 3 Township Parks.
He also maintains the Veterans Monuments, and does the half mast flag lowering.
