Eagle Scout makes benches for E. Elmwood Cemetery

Wayland High School senior Nick Erlanger, an Eagle Scout with Hopkins Troop #0096, made four benches for East Elmwood Cemetery in Wayland Township.

Erlanger raised all the funds to buy the materials to make the benches by collecting returnable cans.  The $350 earned by collecting those cans covered the cost of the special lumber treated to withstand Michigan winters.

Two of the benches have military plaques; one with the Army and Navy and the other with Air Force and Marines.  The other two plaques have the information of Nick Erlanger, Eagle Scout, donating the bench.

Wayland Township Clerk and Sexton, Ann McInerney thanked Erlanger last month when the benches were presented in East Elmwood Cemetery.
