Edward J. Lautenschleger, age 66 of Wayland, died Feb. 22, due to cancer and heart failure.
Born on July 21, 1953, he graduated Class of 1971 from Caledonia High School. His hobbies included automotive restoration and repair, metal fabrication, and wood working. His carvings consisted of ducks, birds, canes, and other forms of wildlife.
He was a real MacGyver, he loved to tinker and could fix anything. He loved to share his knowledge and creativity with other people, especially his grandson. He was finally learning how to play the guitar and getting pretty good at it since retiring in 2018.
He was a Teamster for over 40 years, working as a truck driver at Steelcase for the last 30 years.
He is survived by his wife Robin Denslow Lautenschleger, his son Eric, daughter-in-law Rebecca, and Jason Lee his favorite grandson, his 16-year-old cat Fuzzly and his siblings, Lynn and Bill.
I’m so sorry to see that Ed has died. He was a favorite of mine at the Henika Library. He and his wife, Robin, were interesting and interested in a wide variety of things, and were so pleasant to interact with. I know he will be greatly missed by family and friends.
