Resource Recovery will sponsor an electronics and household hazardous waste collection event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 1, at the Harding’s Market parking lot in Wayland.
Select household hazardous waste and select electronic devices (one television per vehicle) are permitted for dropoff.
Household electronics materials that can be dropped off include radios, CD players, answering machines, calculators, copiers, scanners, fax/printers, DVD players, VCRs, gaming units, iPods, MP3 players, telephones, cell phones, televisions (one per vehicle), assorted media disks and microwaves.
Household hazardous waste includes oil-based paint, wood stain, cleaning products, paint thinner, adhesives, glues, weed killer, fertilizer, pest poisons, pool chemicals, antifreeze, deck sealer, auto fluids, fluorescent light bulbs, mercury thermometers, non-auto batteries and aerosol cans.
Computers and accessories that can be unloaded are APC battery backups, circuit boards, docking stations, power cords and cables, keyboards and mice, Mac and PC laptops, modems, monitors, speaker towers, internal/external disk drivers and servers and server racks.
What are not accepted are latex paint, appliances, Freon, co-mingled single stream recycled items, trash, furniture, construction materials, yard waste, vacuums, VHS/cassettes, hair dryers, curling irons, toasters, ovens, coffee makers, hot plates, kitchen devices, blenders and can openers.
Eligible residents can come from Salem Township, Dorr Township, Hopkins Township/Village, Leighton Township, Wayland Township, Wayland City, and other Resource Recovery participants.
