Expert baton twirler Michelle Bailey of Wayland passes at 60

photo_20151005_WM0050131_0_bailey_michelle1_20151005Michelle Lee Bailey (Mikesell), born July 20, 1955, age 60, of Wayland, died Thursday, Oct. 1.
Michelle lived through her ballet and baton twirling. She was a teacher and performer. At one point of her life, she attended Hawaii University, twirled baton for the Detroit Lions and competed in the Miss Michigan pageant, which are some of her life’s proudest moments.
Michelle was extremely passionate about her family and friends. She opened her arms to anyone and treated them like her own. Her spunky personality and overwhelming love will be missed by many
Surviving are her husband, Brian Bailey; her children, Bradley with wife, Sophia, Aleisha with husband, Cameron, Emmy, Brody, Sierra, and Savana; grandchildren, Payton and Ella; as well as her mother, Elizabeth Mikesell; and brothers: Michael, Marty, Matt, Mitch, and Mickey, with their families.
She was preceded in death by her father, Maurice Mikesell, her brother, Marvin Mikesell, and her cherished friend, Michael Johnson.
Last respects may be given from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7,  and Thursday, Oct. 8, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. SE, where the funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday. A luncheon celebrating Michelle’s life will follow at Discovery Church, 7245 Eastern Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508.
