Two motorcyclists, a 47-year-old man from Wyoming and a 55-year-old Hudsonville man were killed Sunday by a falling tree limb on Yankee Springs Road between Chief Noonday Road and Deep Lake Road in the Gun Lake area,

The Barry County Sheriff’s Office reported the limb first struck one of the motorcycles and the other vehicle drove into it. Authorities said both were thrown from their motorcycles. Both riders were wearing helmets.

Though responders tried to save the life of the Hudsonville man, he died at the scene of the accident. Wayland Area Emergency Services personnel transported the Wyoming man to a hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Responding the crash were personnel from the Yankee Springs Fire, Wayland Fire, Wayland EMS, Michigan DNR, Michigan State Police, Barry County Road Commission, and Barry County Central Dispatch.
