Yankee Springs Township firefighters Saturday evening were summoned to a structure fire with a roof on fire.
Other departments, equipment and personnel from Hastings, Orangeville, Wayland and Thornapple Township joined the battle under provisions of Mutual Aid.
A spokesperson for Yankee Springs said, “We were told by dispatch that everybody was out of the house.”
The first unit to arrive saw the fire coming through the roof and a fire suppression crew entered the house. Another crew attacked the blaze from outside and attempted to keep the exposed side of the house cooled.
The fire was quickly brought under control and firefighters soon afterward began with salvage and overhaul efforts.
