The first snow days for the academic year 2023-24 arrived a bit earlier than expected Tuesday morning for the Hopkins and Martin school districts, even before the start of December. Wayland was one of the very few districts in Allegan County that remained open. Some observers reported tyhat as much as six to eight inches of the white stuff dropped in at locations west and south of Wayland. However, high school basketball games scheduled for area schools are still on.
