Five current Wayland High School students performed alongside two WHS alums at the resurrected Band Day Saturday, Sept. 13, at Ferris State University.
Wayland band director Kelli Tilley Smith said her students experienced firsthand what it is like to be part of a college marching band.
“We are especially proud of alumnus Gavin Heavner (Class of 2023), who is serving on the student leadership team that helped bring Ferris’ marching band back to the field after a 30-year hiatus,” Smith said.
