Mary Janet Springer of Delton died Monday, Feb. 8, at Rose Arbor in Kalamazoo. She was 89.

Serena Lewis-Forney of Wayland said of Ms. Springer, “Mary was my ‘Right hand woman’ or my ‘assistant’ when I worked at Green Acres. She was the director of our fall bazaars, she made gifts for our entertainers and birthday gifts for all of the residents. We spent many hours doing puzzles and playing games together (Farkle was our favorite). Mary called Bingo and handed out the daily newsletters when I was gone.”

She was also very involved with Prairieville Farm Days as camping coordinator. Her career ended working at BJ Hydraulics at the age of 83.

In her free time, Mary enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, crafting and traveling.

Mary is survived by her children, Marjorie (Stephen) Erb, Shelley (Dan) Erb, April (Michael) Wertman, Michael (Emily Hoffman) Springer, Kelly (Kenny Osborne) Springer; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great- great-granddaughter; brother, Richard Scott; sisters: Shirley Reaser and Nancy Swan; and several nieces and nephews.
