Former Hopkins United Methodist Church choir director Betty Mae Finkbeiner, age 93, died Sunday, April 16.

Betty was born March 6, 1930 in Thornapple Township to George and Josephine (Martin) Noffke. Music was a big part of Betty’s life. She loved to sing and was choir director at Hopkins for many years. She was not only active in her church, but also participated in the United Methodist Women’s group.

Betty was a kind-hearted and gentle soul who was devoted to her husband, Stanley, and children.

She is survived by her children: Eric Finkbeiner, Kent (Debbra) Finkbeiner; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, Stanley; daughter, Renae Finkbeiner; siblings: Arlene Visner, Lois Ferner, Fred Noffke.

Relatives and friends may meet with Betty’s family from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 22, at Sparta United Methodist Church, where a memorial service will take place at noon, with pastor Kevin Guetschow officiating. Interment will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13.
